Throughout the week, explore the portrait of one of our talented team members each day.

Can you introduce yourself and describe your role at Soitec?
My name is Anne Paquet, and I am a Process Integration Leader at Soitec, specializing in POI technologies, particularly piezoelectric and insulating materials. My position is cross-functional: I oversee various projects at the Bernin site. My role involves managing POI prototypes from design to production and leading ESG projects, such as reducing water consumption in cleanrooms. My goal is to optimize processes while minimizing our environmental impact. What I particularly enjoy is supporting teams, helping them grow their skills, and contributing to tangible environmental initiatives.

What has been your career path, and why did you choose the industry?
I have a scientific background: a science-focused high school diploma (bac S), followed by a chemical engineering degree, and a PhD in partnership with CEA Grenoble and Arkema. This experience confirmed my desire to work in a technological and hands-on sector that highlights applied science. I always knew I wanted an industrial career because it combines innovation with concrete achievements.

What motivates you most in your job?
The variety of challenges! No two days are the same—there’s no routine. Collaborating with other departments, finding innovative and practical solutions to complex problems, all of this makes every day unique and motivating. I also appreciate the constant exchange and teamwork with other departments to “work better together.” The challenge lies in finding innovative, practical solutions to complex issues, which constantly pushes us to grow.

What skills are essential in your field?
Rigor, organization, and strong communication skills are key to working with multidisciplinary teams. It’s important to bring people together and support them while staying passionate. Of course, having a passion for your work helps overcome obstacles!

How does Soitec value its employees?
Soitec values commitment and initiative. During my five years at Soitec, I’ve held various positions and felt supported every step of the way. When you show dedication, opportunities arise. Soitec offers career advancement and increased responsibilities to motivated employees.

What role does innovation play in your daily work?
Innovation is at the heart of what we do. We constantly strive to optimize processes and reduce costs. Whether it’s for optimization, improvement, or cost reduction, every new idea represents a form of innovation.

In your opinion, how can we attract more young talent to the industry?
It’s essential to make industrial careers more visible from middle and high school. Many young people, including myself at the time, don’t fully understand what these jobs entail. It’s important to show that an engineering role goes far beyond pure technical expertise—it also involves project management, optimization, and extensive collaboration. Internships and immersive experiences are crucial for inspiring career interest.

What would you say to young women hesitant about entering the industry?
I would tell them to go for it. The industry offers great opportunities, and it’s vital to break stereotypes. If a woman is passionate about a field, she will find her place. Don’t be intimidated by an environment often perceived as male-dominated. What matters most is believing in your abilities.

As a woman, do you think your gender has impacted your experience in the industry?
No, not really. Sometimes, I’m the only woman in a meeting, but it has never bothered me. I’m proud to express myself and feel heard. Soitec makes real efforts to promote equality and the advancement of women, and this is reflected throughout the company.

What makes you proud to work at Soitec?
I’m proud to work for a company that values internal growth and takes meaningful steps toward sustainability. For instance, I led a project to reduce water consumption in cleanrooms. It was a collaborative effort involving multiple departments and demonstrated Soitec’s concrete commitment to the environment. Seeing the results of these efforts and the collective awareness they foster is very rewarding.

Any final words to encourage young talent to join the industry?
The industry offers unique opportunities to learn, grow, and make a real impact. To young women, I’d say: don’t hesitate—break through the stereotypes! The industry needs your talents and vision!
