Soitec celebrates its 30th anniversary. The technology and products that have driven its growth continue to gain worldwide recognition. The company generates 95% of its revenue internationally. The rise of strategic markets such as mobile communications and 5G, electric vehicles, and AI serves as significant growth drivers for the company. However, as a responsible industrial leader, Soitec is committed to balancing the growth of its activities with adherence to a highly ambitious ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) policy.
As a committed industrial player, Soitec launches a Climate Plan aligned with the most ambitious trajectory of the 2015 Paris Agreement: limiting global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels. The following year, with a clear determination to make sustainability the cornerstone of its strategy, the company embeds its purpose in its bylaws: "We are the innovative foundation of smart and energy-efficient technologies that sustainably transform our daily lives."
A spin-off of the CEA, a world-renowned research institute, Soitec has always placed R&D at the core of its activities. As early as 2008, Soitec and the CEA strengthened their partnership with the launch of a Substrate Innovation Center. Soitec continuously establishes research partnerships with leading institutes in Europe, Asia, and the United States to drive the development of innovative semiconductor materials.
After venturing into markets such as solar energy, lighting, and equipment, Soitec has decided to refocus on its core business: electronics.
To strengthen its presence on the Asian continent, Soitec opens a new production unit in Singapore. With its 4,000 square meters of clean rooms, the site has the capacity to produce one million SOI wafers per year.

This marked the company's strong presence in Asia, a strategic market for microelectronics players. Its workforce surpasses 500 employees.
Seven years after with the Japanese company SEH, the global leader in silicon. That same year, Soitec lays the first stone of a production site in Bernin, near Grenoble.
With the establishment of a pilot line, Soitec demonstrates the relevance of its technology. The SOI (Silicon On Insulator) produced by Soitec attracts numerous industrial players and its applications multiply. A strategic alliance is signed.
Engineers at the CEA, André-Jacques Auberton-Hervé and Jean-Michel Lamure, founded the startup Soitec based on a revolutionary technology, SmartCut™. This atomic-scale scalpel, offers decisive advantages over existing solutions. It will enable major breakthroughs in the microelectronics market.er its creation, the company is listed on the Nouveau Marché of the Paris Stock Exchange, which will later become Euronext Paris.
