What we do

Picogiga is a world leading company in molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) technology, especially for growing III-V semiconductors materials. For over 20 years, we have been supplying Picogiga™ compound semiconductor epiwafers to customers on the leading edge of wireless, communications, military, space and - more recently - automotive applications. We work in close partnership with our customers to design custom solutions tailored with atomic layer precision.

We were the first company in the world to offer GaAs epiwafers (epitaxy on GaAs substrates) grown by MBE for commercial applications, offering custom solutions to the early adopters of High Electron Mobility Transistors (HEMTs). Thanks to Picogiga™ strong and steady R&D investment, the company has kept a leadership position in this domain. Now we are ready with the latest generations of Gallium Nitride solutions for a widening range of HEMTs, as they become the new cornerstones of advanced wireless infrastructure and RF applications.

Smart Cut™ technology, Soitec’s de facto industry standard for manufacturing engineered substrates (best known for SOI), is also a tremendous tool for us to leverage in new generations of compound materials. It enables us to design complete new solutions - combining III-V compounds semiconductors growth with specific engineered substrates - that address cost, performance, new features and applications.

Inside the Soitec Group, of which we became part in 2003, Picogiga has the task of developping specific material solutions for electronic or opto-electronic applications based on compound semiconductors . Soitec is the world leader in silicon-on-insulator (SOI) material and other silicon based engineered substrates. Together with our customers, our parent company and our colleagues in the world’s top laboratories and R&D programs, Picogiga continues to forge the future in the compound materials industry.
