Supporting employment for at-risk youth is part of our business

Soitec’s commitment to hiring at-risk youth dates back to 2003. To date, we have hired around 100 young people lacking formal qualifications for clean room operator positions. We also work closely with other local businesses, the local unemployment office, and the local center for continuing education on a special four-month employment program in which job seekers identified by the unemployment office follow a personalized series of in-company internships with a view to being hired by one of the host companies.

Sponsoring at-risk youth

Soitec has joined 20 other French businesses in the 100 Chances, 100 Emplois (100 Opportunities, 100 Jobs) program to promote the employment of at-risk youth. We work with advocacy group FACE (Fondation Agir Contre l’Exclusion) to help at-risk youth send their resumes out to our local professional network and each year we sponsor one young job seeker, who receives regular career counseling from one of our Human Resources professionals over a six-month timeframe. The counseling sessions cover writing resumes, setting career goals, and conducting mock job interviews.

Welcoming interns from all walks of life

One of the ways we help at-risk youth enter—and stay in—the workforce is by giving them internships. Real-world work experience is a decisive factor when it comes to future employment. We take on a significant number of interns each year, regardless of our recruitment needs; interns account for 5% of our workforce at any given time.
