Global manufacturing capacity
Soitec’s Grenoble, France production site
Our site in Bernin, France (just outside Grenoble) is the world's largest SOI production facility, with 4,500 m2 (48,500 sq. feet) of clean rooms spread across three different plants:
- Bernin I went online in 1998, reaching full capacity in 2002. The plant houses silicon and 150 mm and 200 mm SOI wafer production and can produce up to 800,000 (200 mm-equivalent) wafers per year.
- Bernin II opened in 2002 and specializes in 300 mm wafers – today the microelectronics industry standard – and can produce 720,000 wafers annually.
- Bernin III focuses on 3D integration using our Smart Stacking™ process.
The Paris Sud production site
This plant, located in Les Ulis south of Paris, specializes in using epitaxy to grow III-V materials. The plant mainly produces 50 mm to 150 mm wafers on gallium arsenide for radiofrequency power applications and can make up to 50,000 per year (150 mm-equivalent) wafers a year.
The Singapore production site
This plant, created at Pasir Ris in 2007, has 4,000 m2 (43,000 sq. feet) of clean rooms to produce 300 mm SOI wafers. At full capacity, the plant will produce one million wafers per year.
The Freiburg production site
This plant manufactures concentrating photovoltaic (CPV) modules for solar farms. It has three fully-automated lines able to produce a total of 25 MW per year. With 4,000 m2 (43,000 sq. feet) of under-roof area, the site offers substantial expansion capacity for the coming years.
